Bryn Tirion Hall School - Antibullying Week 2021

Date Published: 08/12/21

This year National Anti-Bullying Week was recognised from the 15th – 19th November.

At Bryn Tiron Hall School we have zero tolerance of bullying and pride ourselves on the safe and nurturing ethos which all of our learners and staff benefit from. We achieve this by keeping bullying ‘in our sights’ and ensuring that awareness of this is always raised.

Anti-bullying week was an opportunity for us to engage our learners in activities which enabled them to consider what bullying means to them and others and the effects this can have on themselves and those around them.

After watching an assembly about anti-bullying, the children in Dosbarth Enfys discussed bullying and what it can look like. They chose some of their trusted staff in school, who they feel they can approach to talk to if needed and created their own helping hand.

Anti-bullying week – Learner Questionnaire

We wanted to capture feed-back on the week from our learners so we issued everyone with a questionnaire which helped to summarise the impact of our activities and discussions.

Every single one of our learners who answered the questionnaire stated that they knew what bullying is and over 60% have experienced bullying in the past in previous schools they have attended.

It was great to see though that over 95% of them now enjoy Bryn Tirion Hall School most of the time, feeling safe and secure enough to highlight any bullying they may experience or witness and knew who to approach to seek help when they needed this.

To capture all of the work we did during the week, we created a display which reflects the opinions and feelings of everyone in our school. This will stay as a reminder that bullying should never be tolerated and will always be challenged in our amazing school!
